Traditional doors are typically made of wood,

but I have chosen to use 100% cotton knit fabric

to emphasize a warm texture and soft touch.

Each door is infused with my unique perspective,

adding distinct colors that reinterpret traditional designs

while making them accessible in modern daily life.

Traditional doors often require installation in specific spaces,

which is not always feasible in today’s living environments.

Recognizing this, I created fabric doors

that are both practical and embody the elegance of tradition.

The design of this piece carefully considers the proportions

and aesthetics of traditional Korean doors,

achieving a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity,

as well as functionality and artistry.

As a traditional Korean woodworking apprentice,

my aim with this piece was to introduce

the beauty of traditional doors to a contemporary audience.

These doors are not merely decorative;

they are cultural assets that have been shaped

by years of accumulated aesthetic value and everyday practicality.

The essence of this work lies in reinterpreting

these traditional doors in a way that

allows people to enjoy them easily in their daily lives.
